Addressing Youth Suicide in DC – November 17, 2021
The following is a DC School Behavioral Health Community of Practice meeting on November 17, 2021, focused on addressing youth suicide in DC.
This was the third year of the DC CoP. We began to transition back to fully in-person schools slowly. We quickly found out that this brought new challenges. Many of these students had been out of school for two years, and social-emotional learning became one of the highest priorities. For our younger students, we found that second and third-grade students needed to be taught things that were usually taught in elementary school, like how to walk in lines and regulate their own emotions. We continue to use padlets to host all resources from the meeting. Padlets are a virtual message board with a wealth of information and resources shared by and with the community.
